Evaluation activity seven: Looking back at your preliminary task (theschool magazine task), what do you feel you have learnt in theprogression from it to the full product?

Progession: I feel from my preliminary task, I have gained a lot more knowledge. I have become much more aware of different magazine features which help them to appeal to their audience more. Such as, house styles, mode of address, font sizes and how they have to be a certain size etc. After researching a lot more in depth into what makes a good music magazine, more into my target audience. I feel by looking at inspirational music magazines such as NME or artrocker, I have gained more knowledge into layouts, font and graphics.
I have become a lot more familiar with photoshop by using different tools, filters, fonts etc. This has definately helped me produce better products compared to my preliminary task.
In my preliminary task, I had much less of an idea about my target audience and the look I was going for, I feel the overall look of these products are messy, too buzy and disorganised. But due to the skills learnt and mistakes which I have learnt from in the preliminary task, I have refined and made a lot more efficient in my main task work.

  1. The masthead is not a kicker! (See 2nd flickr analysis). I think you must add some text to this section directly comparing the products - including your contents page - to draw out more explicity your progress. You must also consider your research and planning, and how that changed from prelim to main task.
