My target audience is 'indie kids' or 'indie scenesters' who are aged 17-30. I have found these links on the website UK tribes , which help to explain my target audience in a more visual and detailed way.
Http://www.uktribes.com//P=article&id=7&article=185 and Http://www.uktribes.com/?p=article&id=8&article=186 . My target audience are very fashion, art and music orientated they are constantly looking on blogs or going on social networking sites to find out about the latest indie bands and trends. They wear clothing items such as skinny jeans, polo and checkered shirts also converse. Many of them play musical instruments such as guitar or bass and are often seen at small, not very well known pubs and gigs listening to unsigned acts.
They listen to bands such as the arctic monkeys and careerwise they are mainly in music or the creative media. My target audience shop in places such as Topshop ( www.topshop.com) H&M but as they also like to look unique they shop in vintage boutiques, rift through charity shops or often they adapt clothes or even make their own! They are big on brands such as converse or levis. My target audiences's hair style is more often then not 1960's style; long, bold and heavily fringed which is often swept over. To add to the look, their hair is often left unbrushed and mainly wavy. Girls make-up is bold and normally consists of red lipstick and dark, messy, smoky eyes. My target audience are very anti-mainstream, they do not follow mainstream fashion or tend to listen to music in charts (unless they previously discovered it before the artists made it to the charts), they are very unique.
My target audience would have a yearly income of most likely less than £30,000 a year, due to their types or work they tend to work in/for. So to keep my target audience happy I would ensure that in the magazine there would be advertisements that would not only appeal to my TA but also would be suitable for their average incomes. I would advertise things such as new musical instruments, gigs, CD releases and clothes all of which would suit their wants, I feel that by advertising the right sorts of things would maximise my magazine's revenue stream.
Good on psychographics but needs a bit more hard data on demographics. Age range? Income? Try to discuss also what sort of advertising you would try to get in the magazine to maximise that revenue stream.
